Frequently Asked Questions
What do you sharpen?
I sharpen most household knives and everyday scissors, including:
• Kitchen knives
• Pocket knives
• Utility knives
• Sewing and fabric scissors
• Kitchen shears
• Garden pruners and hand tools
I do not sharpen hair stylist or barber scissors. Those require specialized machinery that I do not use. I have many years of experience sharpening high-end kitchen knives.
How much does sharpening cost?
Sharpening is $6 per item.
There is a minimum of 8 items per medium USPS flat-rate box and a minimum of 16 items in the USPS large flat-rate box. But the more, the merrier!
Return shipping is FREE.
This simple pricing keeps things affordable and easy.
How does payment work?
Once your items arrive and I’ve had a chance to review them, I’ll send you a payment request.
You can pay securely using:
• Credit or debit card
• Venmo
• PayPal
Payment is required before your items are shipped back.
How long does it take?
Turnaround time is typically 48 hours or less from the time your package arrives.
I know how much people rely on their knives and tools, so I don’t let boxes sit around.
How do I ship my items to you?
I use USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes.
Most customers use:
• Medium Flat Rate Box (side loading)
• Large Flat Rate Box for bigger batches
They’re reliable, trackable, and include insurance.
You can find simple packing instructions on the Packing & Shipping page.
Do I need special packing materials?
Nope.
Newspaper, wrapping paper, paper towels, and cardboard all work great.
Just make sure blades are fully covered and nothing can rattle around in the box.
Simple and safe.
Can I combine items with friends or family?
Absolutely.
Neighbors, friends, coworkers, and family are welcome to share a box and split the cost.
It’s a great way to save on shipping and hit the minimum.
Will sharpening remove a lot of metal?
No.
I sharpen with care and restraint, focusing on restoring a clean, effective edge while preserving the life of your tools.
This isn’t aggressive grinding.
Your knives come back sharp, not skinny.
What if my knife or scissors are damaged or chipped?
Minor chips and wear are usually no problem.
If I see anything unusual or something that may need extra attention, I’ll contact you before proceeding.
No surprises.
Do you offer refunds?
If you’re not happy with the sharpening, reach out and we’ll talk it through.
I’ve been doing this a long time, and my goal is simple:
send back tools that work beautifully.
